Petitioning to European Human Rights Organizations

#1 Post by Hartzell »

Hello:

We're planning to do some petitioning with human rights organizations in Europe regarding the human rights problems that Taiwanese people are suffering. Ideally, the "petitioner" would be someone who has an interest in this issue and who has citizenship in an EU country or long term residency in an EU country.

Do you know of any such person who would be suitable? Obviously our agenda is neither "blue" (i.e. favoring Taiwan's annexation by China) nor "green" (pushing for Taiwan independence at an early date.) We have written up our views as a series of English language essays, and posted a collection of these at the following internet address -- http://americanacolyte.site50.net/taiwan/

Initially, our thought is that the acceptance of ROC passports as a valid travel documents for native Taiwanese people is a serious form of oppression. After all, Taiwan was not awarded to "China" in the post-war treaties. Hence, the acceptability of this passport for international travel should be thoroughly reexamined. Ideally, the Taiwanese people should be classified as "Taiwanese" not "Chinese." Additionally, the lack of action by the United States' authorities in dealing with this matter for over 65 years should be condemned.

The information which we need to collect from each Petitioner is fairly simple. See -- http://www.twsite.net/pet-data.htm

There is no monetary charge for this Petitioning Activity. Additionally, it can be specified that the Petitioner's name is not made public.

Note: The Tibetans are facing much more serious human rights problems in the current era, and they have had some success in petitioning human rights organizations in Europe and asking that they make all possible efforts to assist in providing remedies and support for their Tibetan problems. So, we think that the issues of Taiwanese are certainly something that the EU human rights organizations could look at.

If you have any questions or comments, please be in touch. Otherwise, we look forward to receiving your information.
