Recommendations for Travel Documents
to be issued to native Taiwanese persons

Please be informed that in early May, 2012, the Taiwan Civil Government (TCG) Staff completed a Report regarding a "Proposed Rewriting of the Textual Content of the Travel Document." Of course, the Travel Document referred to in that Report is the one currently issued by USCIS.

This Report may be of useful reference to your support staff and researchers. It has been posted online at the following address --
            http://www.taiwanbasic.com/ptrav-doc/TravDocReport.doc

In this Report, an overview of the textual content of the current Travel Document issued by USCIS (which is made available to holders of "green cards") is offered. Suggestions as to how it might be edited and otherwise modified to meet the needs of the Taiwan citizenry are outlined.

As you know, during the United States' administration of the Ryukyu Island group, the US Department of Defense authorized the issuance of Certificates of Identity to native Ryukyuan islanders. A full understanding of these important historical and legal details is necessary in order to determine what types of Travel Documents should be issued to native Taiwanese persons.
